On Monday, March 8, 1999 Amy Watkins was murdered 2 blocks from her apartment in Brooklyn...
Although I did not have the pleasure of knowing her, her story touched me deeply.
She was a compassionate and selfless human being who worked with underprivileged kids and battered women...
26 years old and studying for her masters in social work, she was a gentle, loving, vegetarian humanitarian.
Someone stabbed her in the back with such force the knife went right through her body... from all indications it appeared the motive was robbery...
Amy's death is a monumental loss for us as a species... we cannot afford to lose people like her because they are catalysts for change and they are so rare.
Some people wonder why I don't believe in god...
I believe if there was a "god" something like this could never happen to such a wonderful person...
and if there is a god who is cruel enough to allow something like this to happen, I would never support such an entity...
